At RJV Design Studio, we designed this private client’s home workspace to accommodate focused work, immersive gaming and everyday downtime within one considered interior.

The design brings together a rich charcoal palette, warm feature lighting and tactile finishes. Vertical timber wall panels introduce rhythm and depth, while natural daylight highlights the textures throughout the room. The atmosphere shifts comfortably from a functional workspace during the day to a relaxed retreat in the evening.

The client’s interests form an integral part of the interior. LEGO Technic models, gaming collectibles and a featured drumstick from Hard Rock Cafe Maldives give the space a personal narrative. Carefully positioned displays allow these pieces to contribute to the composition while keeping the desk area clear and practical.

Key elements of this private residential project include:

• Integrated workspace and gaming setup: A Secretlab desk, chair, footrest and monitor arms paired with ASUS ROG equipment and PlayStation accommodate both productivity and leisure.
• Textured feature walls: WoodUpp wall panels establish the room’s dark backdrop and strong vertical lines.
• Distinctive pendant lighting: Diesel with Foscarini Tool pendants introduce an industrial detail and warm illumination.
• Personalised displays: Floating shelves and wall-mounted LEGO Technic models give the client’s collection a deliberate place within the design.
• Layered materials: Dark panelling, textured upholstery, timber-look flooring and softer furnishings balance the technical character of the equipment.
• Space to unwind: A separate occasional seat offers a moment away from the desk, reinforcing the room’s role as a place for downtime.

One of the defining features of this project is the relationship between the architectural backdrop and the objects displayed within it. The dark finishes provide continuity, allowing the lighting, collectibles and material details to stand out without overwhelming the compact space.

The result is a personal retreat that accommodates work and recreation with equal consideration. Practical, atmospheric and individual, it reflects the client’s interests while maintaining a cohesive design throughout.
